Location: Industrial area.
This is in the "new" industrial area of Sderot – "new" because that's what it's called, while two more industrial areas for the city are in the planning and construction stages. There is an indoor playground in a protected, safe space – the only one of its kind in the world. This makes it possible for toddlers, children, and youth who are there to continue playing even if there is an attack of Kassam rockets.
This playground covers a space of more than 3000 m2. It was opened in 2009 at a cost of $5 million and financed by JNF, philanthropist and businessman Ron Lauder, and other businesspeople. There were 300 tons of iron used for its construction. It is open on Sundays through Thursdays for a nominal cost to Sderot residents and offers an abundance of facilities – a climbing wall, cognitive games and computer games, a Gymboree, a mini-soccer field, a huge area for playing with dolls, punching bags, a candy store, and even a discotheque.
A few months ago, renovations were begun on the premises, and the games that have been there since it opened will be replaced with newer and safer facilities suited to the year 2022.
How to get there: On Waze, look for the Playground – A World that is Entirely an Experience, 12 Paris St., Sderot.
